My partner was watching a stream last night in between listening to all the (illegal, haha) fireworks shows going on outside. One of the viewers mentioned their birthday was July 3rd.
The streamer briefly exulted on how terrific it must be to have a birthday so close to July 4th in the US. It's like all those celebrations and fireworks are a national birthday party just for all us early July birthday people!
Yeah, no, dude. It is NOT awesome. Because we know that none of those partiers give a crap about our birthdays; they're not out there for us. We know this because we have a lifetime of no one ever showing up at our parties (or giving presents, if that's a thing for you) if we dare to hold birthday parties on our actual birthdays, or any time later than late June or earlier than mid-July.
It's like a huge national birthday party, all right...but it's never actually for us.
